FULL TIME POSITION: $40,000 – $45,000
PART TIME POSITION: $15/hr
Overview
BitSpace is a youth-only maker lab in Lincoln Square that exists to empower children to become critical thinkers and problem solvers through hands-on learning opportunities.
At BitSpace, we call our educators “guides”, as they are here to lead our participants towards their personal ambitions.

MUST HAVES

We are professionals and students from the fields of design, architecture, and computer science, and our team brings experience and vision to bear on a custom curriculum in a fun and exciting workspace.
Preferred Skills
Prospective guides would ideally be comfortable both in the workshop and behind the screen.
Our curriculum includes the use of conventional hand tools and power tools, digital fabrication, computer modeling, basic electronics + physical computing, computer programming, and immersive media.
Often our programs span multiple domains, and we will have preference for candidates who possess a variety of skills.
Proficiency in all the skills listed below is not a requirement, but familiarity with them and a desire to learn new things is a must.
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Traditional Shop Skills (hand and power tools for carpentry, modeling and design )
- Digital Fabrication (laser cutting, 3D printing, (CNC milling a plus))
- 3d Modeling (Blender, Fusion 360,(Rhino a plus))
Unity 3d and C# Scripting - Electronics (Arduino, Simple Circuits)
Core Responsibilities
As a Shop Guide, you will:
Lead Camps and Classes
You’ll work independently or in teams to organize and deliver engaging and educational experiences for our young makers.
Support Curriculum Development
You will work with the director to plan, source, document, and develop curriculum and resources for online access.
Share Shop Responsibilities
You will also take part in general shop maintenance, handling customer relations, and doing administrative tasks as needed.
